“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like Hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.”–Thomas Paine
Broward voters have until 7pm to have their voices heard. Do your homework. Reject the candidates beholden to politicians and lobbyists instead of the people. Reject candidates who will do anything to win an elections. Most of all, do not vote for Judge Steven B. Feren.
He failed two-year old Lilly Baumann when he had chance to protect her. He failed her daddy, Robert Baumann, who came before Judge Feren with faith in the system. He believed in the justice system.
Now, Lilly is missing. Her gun-loving, racist conspiracy theory spewing mother ran off with her. Robert Baumann lost all faith in the system. He just wants his little girl to come home.
Feren, a longtime Democrat politician has run a sleazy campaign. He attacked his opponent, John Patrick Contini, for being a Christian. Feren mocked Contini for mentioning Jesus Christ.
Feren mocked Contini for being a recovering alcoholic.
Feren admitted to being lazy. He said he leaves early when his cases are done. He’s seen at the Hard Rock casino playing poker, instead of helping reduce the caseload in Broward county.
Feren was bounced from juvenile court after the Fourth District Court of Appeals found he was punishing kids for proclaiming their innocence.
And Feren had the nerve to claim he was a champion of the children.
This isn’t about politics. This isn’t about ideology. It’s about common sense.
Broward deserves better.
