RED BROWARD has learned yet another Democrat may jump into the race for the Broward Commission District 4 seat currently held by Chip LaMarca (R-Notary Public). Attendees of Tuesday’s Pride Center Founder’s Circle reception were shocked to hear that Benjamin Lap was entering the race. As a Democrat, Lap would be challenging Ken Keechl for his party’s nomination. Christopher Warnig (D-Fake Cop) is seeking the Dem nomination, but seems more interested in purchasing bullet-proof gear.
During Tuesday’s reception at the Doubletree Gallery One hotel, Lap was introduced by Democrat Michael Albetta. Keen observers of Broward politics will recall that despite being a Democrat, Albetta is a staunch supporter of former sheriff Al Lamberti, a Republican. A source tells RED BROWARD that Albetta urged Lap to “tell them, tell them.” Lap claimed he was running against Chip LaMarca, not Keechl.
Um, yeah right. More to come on the political hijinks behind this move.
Lap’s main political experience is playing host for numerous Democrat fundraising events at his waterfront Fort Lauderdale home. Mr. Lap, an attorney, is affiliated with The Carnegie Group and Biosentinel.
