Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca (R-???) voted to buy the Florida Panthers Hockey Club a brand new state-of-the-art $4,200,000 scoreboard. Despite warnings from the county auditor that they did not have to pay for it, LaMarca saw it as an “investment” in one of “our facilities”. LaMarca bought the Panthers’ argument that a new fancy scoreboard would bring the Jehovah Witness convention to Broward.
LaMarca’s foolishness was exposed all over the internets and even the television. Watch him hum and haw on Local 10 news here. Chip scolded us on Twitter last night. He told us to “learn the subject matter before you pontificate.” Panthers CEO Michael R. Yormark agreed with LaMarca by sending a “you are right” tweet in response.
You see, LaMarca likes hanging out with Broward movers and shakers like Yormark and his campaign treasurer Dev Motwani. Never mind that Motwani is a big Democrat fundraiser, Chip needs those elite connections. Here’s a few pics from a charity breakfast last December showing what great company Chip keeps. You can see him with Yormark, Motwani, Stanley C. Panther and even the salami sandwich doyenne, Judy Stern. They’re all smiles.
When will Chip LaMarca start looking out for the average Broward voter?
