First, Broward Republican Executive Committee Vice Chair Christine Butler issues “guidelines” to squash freedom of the press. Now, one of Tom Truex’s biggest supporters wants a hold a secret conference call with Butler to discuss ways to keep certain GOP “characters” silent.
Most troubling? The Truex supporter, Jeff Rubinoff, is the host/ moderator of Thursday’s BREC chair debate in Davie. Rubinoff is president of the Davie/Cooper City Republican Club.
On Monday Rubinoff sent this email to Chad Lincoln, as senior adviser to Christine Butler:
Please provide a conf call number so that we can discuss.
I want this forum to be a positive for all involved. All of the ridiculous rhetoric and infighting that has been instigated as of late is a horrible reflection of certain characters in the GOP.
If we are to win come 2014 we had all best get along at the local level. If we see a continuation of the charade that has been perpetrated I fear for the worst.
Come on Jeff, name these “certain characters”. Be a man. Stay what you want to say to the entire BREC. Don’t hide behind emails and secret phone calls.
What is this “charade”? Do you mean all the contact between Truex and Butler? Did Truex assist in drafting the “rules”?
Why do Butler and Truex fear freedom of speech? They’re supposed to be Republicans, right?
They can’t handle a little criticism. They attack the dissenters. They want to silence the press. They want people to name names. They want you to “shut up and sit down.”
Gee, they sound an awful lot like Broward Democrats.
First they come for “certain characters”. When will they will come for you?
