The race for Broward Republican Executive Committee chair ain’t cheap. All those mailers, postage, trinkets and robocalls cost a pretty penny. Last time around Rico Petrocelli had a patron who spent close to $5,000 getting him elected.
Sources say the same patron is willing to spend the same about to get Christine Butler elected. But why?
Better question is how. First the whisper campaign. Badmouth the opposition. Say they cannot win and that would lead to Chairman Tom Truex (Z-zombie).
Then the mass email to the membership via the BREC email account.
Next, a shiny mail piece timed to arrive just hours after Butler announces the election.
The following day, another shiny mail piece will tout her endorsements, (calling Sharon Day).
Next up, a longer list of endorsements arrives intended to give her campaign an air of inevitability.
Mix in a few robocalls and voila!
Now you know the game. Next time you’ll learn more about the players.
